anyone linked mysql?

has anyone been able to link mysql to sqlserver 2k?
i've gotten it to link and can see the tables, but all linked server
queries give errors because the mysql odbc apparently doesn't return the
right info needed for the 4 part name. after an extensive google
search, all i've found are people reporting the exact same problem i'm
having, but nobody has posted a solution.
i'm being forced to update mysql data and would much rather use my
stored procedures and scheduled jobs instead of scheduled dts packages.
We've seen the same thing, and never got it working. The ODBC driver for
mysql doesn't behave properly.
Sorry!

anybody know bug list site address?

Hi all,
I've trying to find the bug list under support.microsoft.com -->
sqlserver site but could not find it. Does Anybody know where is the bug
list site address?
thanks

Don't just participate in USENET...get rewarded for it!I don't think there is a publicly available list of open bugs. You can
search the knowledge base for BUG: articles to find those that have been
acknowledged. For those that are fixed, see the readme of each service
pack.

Any way to recover schema (thats it) from a mdf file

Ok, with sqlserver 2005, I've noticed my databases being marked as
suspect far more often than sql 2000. Anyway... after futzing around
with it for quite some time... I'd made no progress.
Now I am at the point where the database wasnt cleanly shutdown, and I
dont have a log file.
I am curious if theres anyway to grab schema from the mdf. I am
relatively sure that the mdf file is in fact in tact and not corrupt,
but I dont know where to go from here. sp_attach_single_file_db looks
like it'd work if it was cleanly shutdown.
Thanks in advance
WestonBefore I say anything else: this is worth a call to PSS, especially if this
is critical data. That being said...
You can start the database in EMERGENCY mode, which will start it without
attempting recovery. Given that all of the original data files are in place,
you can expert data out (although you aren't guaranteed as to transactional
consistency).
I would do that and then try the the sp_attach_single_file_db - at least you
can pump out info from the database first.

Hi Weston,
Having databases marked as suspect should not happen on a regular basis,
unless you're running on wacky hardware or you're doing wacky things.

Any idea what caused yoou to lose the log file? The cause of that might
be related to yoour high frequency of suspect databases.

Any unique datetime's in SQL2005?

Once upon a time, some version of SQLServer was supposed to do
timestamps as datetimes, so you could have a guaranteed unique token
that decoded to a real date/time. I believe this was supposed to be
the ANSI standard for SQL as well.
Has this yet been delivered in SQL2005?
(I think not, but am not certain, and would like to have it for
something I'm doing right now! I should have SQL2005 loaded here in a
few days, but thanks in advance for any answer to this. btw, I don't
see the SQL2005 documentation yet online at MSDN.microsoft.com)

Any one tell export Sql Database in access hole object

hi All
I want to export my mssqlserver 2000 database with all relation ship and all
default value and all data save in sqlserver Database (I want to export hole
data base object ) in MS Access database is it possible
if it is possible from mssqlserver please tell me if it is possible from any
other third party tool then please tell me
thanks in advanced

I am not aware of tool that does a complete transfer of all objects from SQL
Server to MS Access. You can certainly use SQL Server DTS to move data to
Access. You might want to post this to an Access group as well.

|||Hi,
You can either use Upsizing wizard or SQL DTS to upgrade objects/data from
Access to SQL server.
The details about the tools and steps are detailed in the below
knowledgebase article.

Any equivalent for NEXT_DAY fn of Oracle

Haii Friends,
Is there any equivalent for Oracle's NEXT_DAY function in sqlserver.I need it for the following query...
SELECT NEXT_DAY( SYSDATE ,'THURSDAY') FROM DUAL;
ur Help in this regard is really appreciated...
Regards,
VickyI'm thinking that this query returns you the upcoming Thursday? There's not an immediate function that will easily do this for you, however, either a proc or function can achieve this easily. This is assuming you always want the upcoming Thursday

CREATE PROCEDURE dbo.getNextThursday AS

DECLARE @.CurrentDate AS DATETIME
DECLARE @.DayOfWeek AS TINYINT

SELECT @.DayOfWeek = DATEPART(WEEKDAY, GETDATE())

IF (@.DayOfWeek < 5) -- Not equal to Thursday
BEGIN
SELECT @.CurrentDate = (GETDATE() + (5-@.DayOfWeek))
END
ELSE
BEGIN
SELECT @.CurrentDate = (GETDATE() + (7-(@.DayOfWeek-5)))
END

SELECT @.CurrentDate

any doc-tool for SqlServer?

is there any documentation generating tool for SqlServer? (like pldoc for
Oracle)? We use Document! X from Innovasys and it works well for us.

Document! X is a documentation tool designed to parse the structure of
a database (or Visual Basic project or COM object), read comments
attached to the objects in the database, and then create on the fly
HTML help files. It creates help pages for each object in a database:
tables, views, triggers, and stored procedures. By tagging comments
within database objects like stored procedures or views, the developer
or documentation specialist can use the tool to copy those comments and
place them in appropriate locations on a help page automatically. A
similar process occurs with tables. When you create a new table using
SQL Enterprise Manager or Visual Studio .NET, you have the option of
writing a brief description for each table column (in addition to
assigning data types, lengths, and other data features). Document! X
looks for these comments, copies them, and then writes them to the help
file.

Vishal
